The Process

Six movements, over eighteen months.

A WeddingStory commission is an eighteen-month relationship. The wedding itself is one day inside it.

  1. I

    Conversation

    Six to eighteen months out

We begin with a private call. No portfolios reviewed, no packages discussed — only the wedding you imagine. If our sensibility fits, we send a proposal within the week.

  2. II

    Commission

    Upon contract

A signed agreement and a thirty-percent retainer reserve your date. We accept a single wedding per weekend. The date is yours.

  3. III

    Design

    Sixty days before

A second conversation, longer, focused on the day itself. We meet your planner, walk the venue, and design the coverage around the moments that matter to you.

  4. IV

    The Day

    The wedding

Two principal cinematographers, a second camera, an assistant. Sixteen-millimetre film for three movements: morning, ceremony, first dance. Digital for the rest.

  5. V

    Edit

    Twelve to sixteen weeks after

The same hands that held the camera cut the film. A first cut is shared privately. One round of revisions is included; in nine years, fewer than a dozen couples have used it.

  6. VI

    Heirloom

    Final delivery

Your films arrive in a hand-bound walnut keepsake with archival USB, signed prints from the day, and lifetime digital storage. The negatives are archived in Toronto.
